Detailed description of Santorini Tour
We start early in the morning for our tour of the beauties of Santorini. After picking you up at the entrance of the hotel / airbnb where you are staying, we will drive you to Imerovigli. A traditional village, 350m. above the sea, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view of the Caldera and the volcano.
Next stop: Firostefani. One of the oldest villages in Santorini, which is a suburb of the capital. There we will admire the traditional houses with the narrow paths and the view of the volcano. The main attribute of the place is the blue domes on the village’s church.
We are transported to the southwest coast of Santorini where Akrotiri is located. Apart from the beautiful view, the amazing seafood restaurants and the churches, we will also find the Lighthouse and the Red Beach. The Lighthouse of Santorini is one of the best in the country and has adorned the island since 1892, when it was built. Then we’ll drive to Red Beach, which got its name from the red rocks overlooking the beach. We park and walk a few minutes to reach this magnificent spectacle.
Resuming our tour we’ll be driving to Emporio, the largest village of Santorini, located at the foot of Prophet Elias. From there we will have the opportunity to admire the Gavrilos mountain range and the eight windmills.
We can not miss a stop at the famous Black Beach. A huge beach full of black sand and pebbles compose an unreal landscape, which is the result of many years of volcanic activity.
We then visit Megalochori, one of the most picturesque villages of the island with important historical mansions and as a highlight, the church of Agios Nikolaos, which is built on a rock overlooking the Caldera.
Then we head to the highest point of Santorini, Pyrgos. This village has traditional cafes and narrow streets creating a magnificent landscape in the most beautiful castle of the island. Near the village is Prophet Elias with his homonymous monastery.
We continue, as we now discover the cosmopolitan side of the island in the wonderful Kamari. A resort southeast of Santorini, which also has a Blue Flag for the cleanliness of its beaches. We take a walk on the paved roads that exist along the coast or visit the tourist shops, cafes and shops of the village.
Finally, is there a better way to end our tour than the enchanting sunset in Oia? The much photographed Oia, is one of the most beautiful places in Greece and the whole world!
From there we take the road back to our hotel / airbnb, having enjoyed the most important parts of Santorini in just 1 day!
