Detailed description of the Caldera Tour
After picking you up from the entrance of the hotel / airbnb where you are staying, we will ascend to the famous Oia. There we will lose ourselves in the idyllic landscape and we will enjoy the panoramic view of the island! Oia is known worldwide for its enchanting sunset, which has been talked about by everyone who has visited it.
Next stop on our tour, Imerovigli. The second largest village on the island, which is located at an altitude of 350m above sea level. From there we can admire the view of the volcano but also see one of the five fortified settlements of Santorini, Skaros. In fact, Skaros was the capital of Santorini until the 18th century.
Then we’re transferred to Firostefani. Its dazzling view will not leave anyone unmoved. The combination of the sea and the volcano creates a fascinating landscape. The blue domes of Agioi Theodoroi give a special tone to the already beautiful atmosphere.
Then we head to the highest point of Santorini, Pyrgos. The traditional cafes and narrow streets compose a magnificent landscape in the most beautiful castle of the island. Near the village is Prophet Elias with his homonymous monastery.
From there we drive to Megalochori, with its important historical mansions and its highlight: the church of Agios Nikolaos, which is built on the rock overlooking the Caldera.
Then, we visit Akrotiri with its famous lighthouse. The lighthouse is the diamond of the island and is one of the best in Greece.
Finally, we will visit a local winery, one of the most famous in Santorini and we will taste wine overlooking the Caldera.
From there we take the road back to our hotel / airbnb, being full of the natural beauty that the villages and the Caldera view generously offer.
